Most people know that dyslexia involves difficulties with reading, writing and sustaining attention. However, it is also characterised by

intuition, creativity, curiousity

and a highly visual way of thinking.

talented in art, sport, music

appears very bright but does not perform well in school

feels stupid with a low self esteem

covers up weaknesses with ingenious strategies

easily frustrated and emotional about school, reading or taking tests

daydreams often, becoming easily distracted

losing track of time

difficulty telling the time, managing time or learning sequenced information

difficulty organising self, tasks and belongings

can do arithmetic but not word problems

tires quickly and makes mistakes when writing or copying

difficulty transferring thoughts into words - poor comprehension
